Along with casual ceremonies, more couples are picking weekday dates for their destination weddings – locking in lower ceremony prices and making it easier to find open dates on their favorite resort’s calendar.
For some, having eco-friendly receptions and voluntourism opportunities to give back to the local communities where they’re staying are high on their priority list when choosing their destination wedding destination or resort.
Elopements have grown very popular especially since a little virus named Rona upended our lives – it’s easy to get away for a destination wedding trip that’s focused solely on you! (And heck…you can plan a reception for everyone at home when you return.)
To keep your destination wedding manageable while you’re juggling job and family issues now, consider a “micro wedding” – an intimate ceremony with just your very closest family and friends.
In 2021, couples who choose a small ceremony at home can invite family and friends to a “sequel wedding” later – a DW ceremony that’s a symbolic celebration as the pandemic winds down.
Huge ballrooms with crystal chandeliers seem so 1980s. Now, the big trend for venue locations is nature – holding the ceremony outside where trees and water and the blue sky serve as the backdrop.
I can’t even begin to tell you how much easier and fun planning a destination wedding will be. And did I mention a LOT less expensive!? Trust me…I planned a destination wedding in the US for my oldest in 2020 and while it was stunning and amazing…I definitely have my eyes set on one of my favorite Caribbean or Mexican all-inclusive resorts for my youngest when her time comes.
